What is the true meaning of wedding makeup in social media?

Writer's picture: MarianeMariane

✨ Lately, I’ve been reflecting on weddings and my role as a makeup artist in them—and honestly, it’s been devastating. We live in a world where the perfect wedding day is often about creating a picture-perfect moment for the Instagram rather than celebrating love and connection.

In a world of Instagram-ready everything, it’s easy to feel like your wedding has to be a production. And the true meaning of wedding makeup has distorted, everything has to be flawless and perfect. The reason I became a makeup artist, —it was to make people feel like their best selves on one of the most special days of their lives. ✨ Celebrating with your family and friend- those tender moments between vows, the joy in the getting-ready chaos, the tears when you first see your partner with the raw, authentic beauty of your true self, while everyone knows that's YOU, not a transformed You 🙌💕

For me, makeup is about showing up authentically and confidently. No filters, no pressure to meet impossible standards. Just YOU, feeling your best, exactly how you want to feel on your wedding day.

So, here’s my promise to myself, and to every client: I’ll never let the pressure of “flawless” overshadow what really matters. Whether you want natural or glam, I’m here to make sure your look reflects how you feel in that moment. Because at the end of the day, it’s not about the makeup—it’s about how you FEEL. 🥰
